The ever‑growing Sound Library is also a powerful source of inspiration, thanks to Patches that allow for rich layers of instruments and effects — and Smart Controls that let you easily shape any sound. A – In Captain Plugins 5, we added VST plugin hosting, so you can compose your MIDI in Captain Plugins, and route it directly through 3rd-party synths without leaving Captain Plugins. We have added compatibility with the most commonly used VST instruments, such as Arturia V Collection, Omnisphere, Serum, Sylenth, NI Kontakt, U-HE Zebra and more. 32-bit plug-ins on 64-bit Windows: C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesVST2. Any other folder your VST host application is scanning during startup by default is also suitable. But, to keep plug-in installations independent from a specific VST host release, never install plug-ins into the program folder of the VST host application or any other.
You can’t find the Equator VST or AU plugin inside a digital audio workstation (DAW).
Solution
After downloading Equator from My ROLI and then installing it, the Equator plugin is saved in the following locations:
Mac
- VST Plug-in: Mac HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/
- AU Plug-in: Mac HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/
Windows
- VST Plug-in (32-bit): C:Program FilesCommon Files(x86)SteinbergVST2
- VST Plug-in (64-bit): C:Program FilesCommon FilesSteinbergVST2
Ensuring your DAW is using the correct plug-in location
Some DAWs have different default locations to scan for plugins. If you have installed a plugin (like Equator) and can’t seem to access it from your DAW, check the DAW’s settings to ensure that it is looking in the right folder. In some DAWs you can set additional folders to scan automatically.
For example, in Ableton Live:
Vst Plugins For Fl Studio
- Go to Preferences > File Folder.
- Select the button Use VST Plug-In Custom Folders
- Click Browse by VST Plug-In Customer Folder
- In the window that opens, navigate to the folder where your VST plugin is located:
- C:Program FilesCommon FilesSteinbergVST2Equator for RISE x64.dll
- Press Rescan to make Ableton find the VSTs in that folder and make them available in your project.
Please restart your Mac after installation. Some DAWs (including Ableton Live and Logic Pro X) may not recognise the plugin otherwise.
If the plugin in question is Kickstart, be aware that it appears in the Nicky Romero folder in Logic's Audio FX menu, not the Cableguys folder.
Some of our plugins only work on stereo tracks. In Logic, a newly created audio track is mono by default.
If the plugin also doesn't appear on stereo tracks, open Logic's Preferences > Plug-in Manager and check that the plugin is listed and activated.
If you still can't see the plugin in Logic, browse to this folder and check that the plugin is installed there (in Finder, press SHIFT-CMD-G and enter a folder name in the dialog to open it directly):
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST
If it is, make sure Logic is closed, remove the plugin manually and install it again. Make sure you have admin rights when you install the plugin.
If the plugin is still not found, close Logic, then delete your cache file, if it exists:

~/Library/Caches/com.apple.audiounits.cache
Also, remove this folder:
~/Library/Caches/Logic/AudioUnitCache
If you're running macOS 10.14 Mojave, you could also check again after another hour of computer usage. It seems strange, but some users have reported that after an hour of waiting, Logic's Plug-ins Manager has listed the plugin.
If the plugin is still not showing up, try moving the .component file from /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components to your 'personal' plugins folder:
