The editor itself doesn't capture and produce audio. The synthesizer should be connected to audio interface and you should use your's DAW facilities to capture audio. The most common way is to create additional audio track (or channel) in the DAW and route audio signal from audio interface to this track where you can process it. But most popular DAWs has special tools for integration external effects processors that can be used for route audio from synthesizer and process audio on same track with the editor.

Examples:
On OS X
- Enable checkbox “Aux Output Port” in the editor preferences.
- Add or enable input MIDI port “your_synth_name_AUX” in your DAW.
On Windows
Unfortunately on Windows platform this required additional virtual MIDI ports software. I highly recommend loopMIDI by Tobias Erichsen. Also I recommend to use virtual MIDI ports software instead any hardware solution because low latency.
- Run loopMIDI and add MIDI port with name like “your_synth_name_AUX”, for example “Rev2_AUX”.
- Open the editor and set this created port in “Aux Output Port”.
- Add or enable this input MIDI port in your DAW.
Also in some cases you can get midi loop issues. It depends from setup and midi routing on your side. To avoid this you can disable “Local Control” on device and enable “Local Control Support”in the editor preferences. Again, “Local Control Support” should be enabled when “Local control” is OFF on device.
As described above I recommend to disable MIDI clock sync on synthesizer. Usually “Sync BPM” feature is enough for most cases. In this mode the editor automatically sets BPM parameter of the synthesizer.
But if you want to work with your synthesizer in slave mode you can do following:
On OS X
- Enable 'Aux Input Clk Port' in the editor preferences. This creates new midi port called like 'your_synth_name_CLK'.
- Send MIDI clock to this port from the DAW and the editor will redirect it to the synthesizer.
On Windows
Unfortunately on Windows platform this required additional virtual MIDI ports software. I highly recommend loopMIDI by Tobias Erichsen. Also I recommend to use virtual MIDI ports software instead any hardware solution because low latency.
- Run loopMIDI and add MIDI port with name like “your_synth_name_CLK”, for example “Rev2_CLK”.
- Open the editor and set this created port in “Aux Input Clock Port”.

When you scan for newly installed plug-ins or relaunch Nuendo, the new plug-ins are shown on the VST effect or VST instrument selectors, respectively.
